President's Message
Last year, the Norwood Fair had a near record attendance. We thank all of you who made it such a success! We hope to see you again this fall as we come together to celebrate the magic of our wonderful Thanksgiving Fall Fair.
Last year’s theme was “Country Roads, Take Me Home.” This year, thanks to some significant improvements, we could say “Country Roads, Take Me to the Norwood Fair!”
Late last fall, we secured the use of 16 acres of adjacent land at the south end of Alma Street for additional free parking - nearly doubling our parking capacity. Furthermore, we have worked with our municipality to create two new access points for parking: one off Mill Street and another on the east side of the fairgrounds, off Alma Street near County Road 42. These changes will allow visitors coming from the south and east of Norwood to access parking without having to drive through the village. Along with other improvements, these updates
should significantly reduce traffic congestion for those arriving at and leaving the fair.
I had the privilege of attending the OASS convention in Toronto earlier this year, where I exchanged successes and challenges with members of other fairs from across the province. One of the most frequent comments I heard was praise for the unique, family-oriented atmosphere of the Norwood Fair. As a community, we should be very proud of our ability to create this special experience.
I believe that this essence is made up of countless small but meaningful ingredients - a flake of hay, a stitch of needlework, the excited screams from the midway, a sniff of livestock, a team of horses, a dedicated troop of volunteers, the sparkle of smiling faces, and of course...a crowd of enthusiastic visitors. Let’s create this magic once again by coming together this Thanksgiving weekend. We look forward to seeing you all!
